- Wine News (November 10, 2009): Pale straw hue. Reserved scents of lemon and quince. Sweet flavors of pear nectar. Vanilla and toasted oak dominate the close. 86 points

- Connoisseur’s Guide (October 2009): Ripe fruit is all but hitten in the nose of this rich, vanillin and cocoa –powder scented offering, and if there is enough fruit in the mouth to keep the proceedings closet o the expected path, it is not quite enough to earn our full and unreserved endorsement. 86 points

Detriot News, Sandra Sifven (August 12, 2009): As Monterey keeps heating up with its Burgundy varietals -- Chardonnay and Pinot Noir -- you get more of the picture with this single vineyard Chard from Clos LaChance in San Martin. It's serious. It's expensive. It's a limited-production gem. If you don't like Chardonnay with alcohol, high extract, a creamy, viscous texture, then move on. This light-golden wine is a powerhouse of caramelized apple, butterscotch, butter, and brown spices. The palate is rich and has the texture of room-temperature butter -- soft and silky. The flavors resound on the finish. Acidity gives the whole show structure and backbone. It's a manly Chardonnay. Pair it with grilled veal or pork, or fatty seafood or shellfish. Salmon? Perfect. It's a special-occasion Chardonnay.

- E-Zine on Wine, Mark Squires (July/August 2009): Samples from Clos LaChance shows some interesting things this issue--I liked this Chardonnay best. It is a small production Chard (286 cases, $35) from the Santa Cruz Mountains is big and full bodied. It shows some oak at first, but since it only had 40% new French oak, it comes around rather quickly. Its intensity picks up with air, and the alcohol (14.5%) shows just a bit. It seems sweet, fruity, mouthcoating and ripe--yet it is very well balanced for its style, fruit forward, not particularly steely, but rather attractive. 89 Points

- scmwine.blogspot.com, David Tong (May 27, 2009): Lighter on the oak than the 2006 SCM, the nose has lemon, apple and peach. Rich and full bodied with complex, creamy lemon, fig and mineral notes and a long toasty, smoky finish. A knockout. Recommended 93 Points
